What types of events are available?

FunForSingles events, adventures and activities cover a wide range of things for you to do. If it is available in your city, we do it! Of course, that's as long as there is interest in that particular type of event. Once you join, you will complete an Events Survey so that we can make sure we are planning the types of activities you would like to do. They include anything from outdoor events (hiking, biking, rafting, climbing, flag football, tennis, volleyball, waking tours, skiing, skydiving, hot air ballooning, scuba diving, sailing lessons, etc.), cultural events (symphony, theater, concerts, ballet, museums, historical tours, dinner theater, etc.), and other types of events such as classes, lessons, the FunForSingles Book Club, house parties, local festivals, professional sporting events, dancing, yoga, kick boxing, indoor rock climbing, picnics, wine tasting... the list goes on! We even do things that may have never crossed your mind such as fencing and flying trapeeze lessons! That's what we mean when we say "Do something interesting to meet someone interesting". The events are everything from laid back and relaxed to high adrenaline adventures! There's something for everyone.

Who are the Event Planners?

The FunForSingles Event Planners are professional event planners who have years of experience in planning thousands of events specifically for this type of organization. There is a specific reason each event is planned in order to make sure there is a wide variety of activities that all Members will enjoy. In addition, we focus on ensuring that, not only will the event be fun, but that the environment is one in which the Members get to meet and know each other. Feedback and suggestions from the Members is extremely important!
Who are the Event Coordinators?

The Event Coordinators are Members of your local FunForSingles club. They volunteer their time and are selected by FunForSingles because of their personalities, background, organizational skills and length of time (for familiarity) they have lived in your area. The Event Coordinators are a diverse mix of both male and female Members of all ages who have the responsibility of making sure the club runs well. They are folks who have your and the club's best interest at heart and are exemplary Members of the club and your community. If you are interested in becoming an Event Coordinator, let us know! We will discuss the requirements and benefits in detail.

How much do the events cost?
Many of the events are free (such as the majority of outdoor events). Some of the events are paid by the member at the event itself (for example, a dinner and movie event will be "On Your Own" to give the Members flexibility). The other events that have a fee are based on the price negotiated by FunForSingles. For example, we have accounts with most of the professional sports teams. So, we pass those savings on to the Members. In addition, for events such as lessons, comedy clubs, etc., we will negotiate the best deal possible for the Members. Most venues offer group rates which we take advantage of. We have accounts with many of the event facilities so that even large concerts and events are greatly discounted. An event will never cost more than it would if done on your own. Your Membership fee (and dues, if that is they type of Membership you have) does not cover the cost of any events. If there is a fee associated with any particular event, it is clearly indicated in the event description.

Is there a minimum / maximum number of events that I can attend?
We'd love for you to attend all of the events! However, we know that's not possible. There is no minimum or maximum number of events a member must attend. We have found that if a member participates in around 3 to 5 events per month (or an average of one event per week), that is a decent use of the club. Of course, the more events you attend, the better! This is especially true if you attend a wide variety of activities. You will be exposed to more Members and fun experiences.

When and where do the events take place?

Based on the number of Members in your club, there will always be plenty of events for you to choose from. If your club is new, there will obviously be less events than the clubs that have been around for years. We want to make sure there is good attendance at each event and we plan accordingly. With that, we use the center of the city as the hub for event locations. Using that starting point, events are planned from there to a 1 hour driving radius from the hub city. That way, Members in different parts of the metropolitan area will be able to enjoy events close to home and not always have to head to town. We also take into consideration the local traffic. Because of that, all events planned during the week are planned for after typical working hours. Weekend events are much more flexible. Sometimes, an event could be several hours away. However, that is more rare. The events will most often be within an hour's driving distance from the metro hub. The difference is that weekend events can take place any time of day.

How many Members attend each event?
Events can have an attendance of as little as 5 Members all the way to over 100 Members. The average depends on the size of your Membership. Naturally, the newer your club, the fewer Members will be at the events. Older, more established clubs will have more. With either size club, the minimum number of Members necessary to ensure that an event will take place is 5. In the event descriptions, you will see the maximum number of Members that can attend any particular event. That maximum is based on the historic attendance of that event and what is anticipated for attendance. Sometimes, there are limits based on the number of spots that are available. For example, we may have tickets to a major professional sporting event. However, we may only have 10 tickets for that event based on what they made available to us. Thus, the limit for that event is 10. The spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Other times, we may reserve an entire part of a restaurant or club for a large Mixer. You will see the limit raised to 50,60, or even 100 based on our anticipated attendance. We like to make sure that the event is not overcrowded and that everyone can feel comfortable. At the same time, we will cancel an event if the anticipated number of Members does not register and is below 5. As mentioned above, as a member, you should feel comfortable signing up for any event knowing that you will be able to meet other Members in an environment that is fun and comfortable!
