Who are the Event Planners?
The FunForSingles Event Planners are professional event planners who have years of experience in planning thousands of events specifically for this type of organization. There is a specific reason each event is planned in order to make sure there is a wide variety of activities that all members will enjoy. In addition, we focus on ensuring that, not only will the event be fun, but that the environment is one in which the members get to meet and know each other. Feedback and suggestions from the members is extremely important!Back to top.
How much do the events cost?
Many of the events are free (such as the majority of outdoor events). Some of the events are paid by the member at the event itself (for example, a dinner and movie event, many of the mixers, etc., will be "On Your Own" to give the members flexibility). The other events that have a fee are based on the price negotiated by FunForSingles. For example, we have accounts with most of the professional sports teams. So, we pass those savings on to our members. In addition, for events such as lessons, comedy clubs, etc., we will negotiate the best deal possible for the members. Most venues offer group rates which we take advantage of. We have accounts with many of the event facilities so that even large concerts and events are greatly discounted. An event will never cost more than it would if done on your own. Your membership fee (and dues, if that is they type of membership you have) does not cover the cost of any events. If there is a fee associated with any particular event, it is clearly indicated in the event description.Back to top.
Who are the Event Coordinators?
Within some of the FunForSingles clubs, there are Event Coordinators who are members who volunteer their time to help at some of the events. They are selected by FunForSingles because of their personalities, background, organizational skills and length of time (for familiarity) they have lived in your area. The Event Coordinators can be a diverse mix of both male and female members of all ages. They are folks who have your and the club's best interest at heart and are exemplary members of the club and your community. If you are interested in becoming an Event Coordinator in your club, let us know! We will discuss the requirements and benefits in detail.Back to top.
Is there a minimum / maximum number of events I can attend?
We'd love for you to attend all of the events! However, we know that's not possible. There is no minimum or maximum number of events a member must attend. We have found that if a member participates in around 3 to 5 events per month (or an average of one event per week), that is a decent use of the club and a good way to benefit from it. Of course, the more events you attend, the more fun you will have and the more opportunities you will have to meet other local singles! This is especially true if you attend a wide variety of activities. You will be exposed to more members and fun experiences. Back to top.
When and where do the events take place?
Based on the number of members in your local FunForSingles, there will always be plenty of events for you to choose from. If your club is new, there will obviously be less events than the clubs that have been around for years. We want to make sure there is good attendance at each event and we plan accordingly. With that, we use the center of the city as the hub for event locations. Using that starting point, events are planned from there to a 1 hour driving radius from the hub city. That way, members in different parts of the metropolitan area will be able to enjoy events close to home and not always have to head to town or drive a great distance. We also take into consideration the local traffic. Because of that, all events planned during the week are planned for after typical working hours. Weekend events are much more flexible. Sometimes, a special event could be several hours away and members will often carpool to those ones. However, that is more rare. The events will most often be within an hour's driving distance from the metro hub. The difference is that weekend events can take place any time of day.Back to top.
How many members attend each event?
Events are arranged that can accommodate as few as 5 members up to over 100 members, depending on the event. The average depends on the size of your local club. Naturally, the newer your club, the fewer members will be at the events. Older, more established clubs will have more. No matter the size of the club, the minimum number of members required to ensure that an event will take place is five. In the event descriptions, you will see the maximum number of members that can attend any particular event. That maximum is based on the historic attendance of that event and what is anticipated for attendance. Sometimes, there are limits based on the number of registrations that are available for that particular event. For example, we may have tickets to a major professional sporting event. However, we may only have 10 tickets for that event based on what the team made available to us. Thus, the limit for that event is 10. The spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Other times, we may reserve an entire part of a restaurant or club for a large Mixer. You will see the limit raised to 50, 60 or more, or have no limit at all, based on our anticipated attendance. We like to make sure that the event is not overcrowded and that everyone can feel comfortable. At the same time, we will cancel or reschedule an event if there are not at least five members signed up for it. As mentioned above, as a member, you should feel comfortable signing up for any event knowing that you will be able to meet plenty of other members in an environment that is fun and comfortable. **Springfield/Western Mass and Albany - After you join, you will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire. That enables us to custom plan events for you and members who would like to attend the same types of events as you. You will then be invited to attend events that meet your specifications.
